Ready to prove your mad boardgame prototyping skillz? The instructions for the Seasteading Board Game have been translated into English, and the author (Marc-Felix Otto) has added instructions on how to make a prototype.
This is not a simple "print stickers and put 'em on playing cards" sort of prototype, the instructions include elements like: "the real fun part: the “slider havens”. Cut the 6 haven boards such that a panel’s 8 sliders slide easily – and below the panel’s holes – as shown below. " and "From the aluminum bar, saw 30 pieces of 50 mm length. Clamp one piece (up to its middle) to a bench vise and use a plastic hammer to create a 120° angle such that the ship fits to the hexagonal seasteads."
Someone out there must be up for a challenge involving everything from paper, labels, and foil to aluminum bars and bench vises :). Perhaps a few locals want to get together and work on the project? We can then play it at the next seasteading social...or at a game day at Tortuga.

Good news: it exists.
bad news: the rules/description are in German, and the prototype pieces are not easy to reproduce.

I figured out a "cheat" for sextuple word challenge, which is the iphone text twist. There is an extra source of information that I had never realized. I wonder if it is unique to that game, or do all TextTwists work that way?

I never thought I'd happily listen to religious lectures, but this Buddhism thing as taught by Pema Chodron is pretty cool.
choiceful & I have a new obsession, courtesy of Mr. Knizia: Lost Cities. So fun! Enough luck to keep things exciting, but still plenty of skill. Are there any other 2 player games that are this good? Our previous mainstay was NetRunner.
I have some Betel Nut, anyone have practical experience on how to use it? Apparently you need lime (CaO) in order to activate it, is there any ordinary household food I can use instead?
We're thinking about maybe heading east for the holidays and catching New Years at the Buttery, although it's not yet certain. I'm sort of jonesing for another LA trip, after the last one Shannon started taking a Saturday morning meditation class and I've been stuck home, but I think it's ending soon.
