Has anyone tried these shoes, or have recommendations for other barefoot-ish shoes? I love the barefoot-ness of FiveFingers, but honestly, the main thing I like about the toes is the attention they get. They are annoying to get into, and my toes often don't like being spread, especially with socks in. (And without socks, the smell is awful). I like the thin sole and flexibility, but the toes are style over substance, at least for my feet.
I know the Nike Free is supposed to be a barefoot-ish shoe, but looking at the pictures on their site, it doesn't look minimal at all, the sole looks enormous.
I guess I could also try moccasins, as Katy has recommended.

my new shoes arrived. I quite like them, although there are two trouble spots. The toe openings sort of splay your toes out, and my little toe gets sore. I fixed this by configuring the shoes as FourFingers -I tuck my little toe in with the one next to it, which is where it wants to be. I figure over time I may try splaying it sometmes and see if I can improve toe flexibility.
WTF, two Segways just got onto my bus.
The shoes sure look cool. I changed my jeans to black pants to match with them :). I've been calling them "my latest affectation". They feel quite flexible and slipper like, although I'd like an even thinner sole. The other bad point is on the Achilles tendon, where they seem to chafe a bit. I loosened the heel strap, we'll see if that helps.
One downside of them is that my feet won't turn into solid calloused slabs. I read a book ?Modesty Blaise? Once where the heroine had incredibly tough feet from years of barefoot wandering.
I'm definitely sick, but hopeful that I can whoop this like I did the last few.

Definitely much more barefoot-ey than normal shoes. I think they fit. Except for the toes. I don't have monkey toes. But I guess they gotta make the toes big enough for monkey toes.
Doesn't Vibram Five Fingers sound like something you'd get at a sex store?

spent most of yesterday barefoot, which was fun, although my feet got a bit sore. I was thinking that if I lived in LA, that "Barefoot in LA" would be a catchy title for a blog.
Pics of yesterday later. I slept 12 hours, did a couple hours of TSI work, showered, did a bad job ironing some pants, and am headed back to campus.

with science and studies and stuff.
I like walking barefoot, the main things that prevent me are laws and not wanting to get the carpet dirty. I wonder what the rules are at work?
The other weightlifters at the gym today were barefoot. Guess I'll start doing that.
UPDATE: The Vivo Barefoot shoe that was positively reviewed in that article is sold out (maybe cuz of the article), but Vibram FiveFingers is cheaper and looks just as good. And I feel like I've seen
krchicken and
carlcoryell wearing them? I wore thin slippers out to dinner, which was nice, but they got really dirty.
I think I'm late to this trend, but I don't mind hopping on it anyway...
