What's a good way to respond to this, if so?

I'm not a sophisticated investor. Mutual funds is about as good as I do, and I took a bath in the dot com crash along with everyone else.

I have some worries about the decline of the dollar, but I don't want to go too far out on a limb either.

Can a guy hedge against this, *without* filling his basement up with gold coins or buying land in Montana?

Buy internationally diversified index funds, particularly those of nations which don't trade with us heavily.
