http://archive.org has similar goals - Brewster Kahle spoke at Compters, Freedom, and Privacy about that. His speech is inspiring to listen to and available here: http://www.cmcgc.com/cfp2004/423_Closing_Keynote.mp3

In it he relates his experience with India and the Internet Bookmobile, among many other things.
