brick & mortar sucks

side-beard-flip
I went to Frys to fondle a MacBook Air and get a 2nd guitar for Rock Band. Their Air display model was gone, and the only PS3 guitar was some stupid Guitar Hero Aerosmith bundle for $100.

So I got out my iPhone, went to Amazon's awesome mobile site, and by the time I was at my car, I had found several PS3 wireless guitars, read reviews, and ordered one (with free 2-day shipping).

Agreed!

The only exceptions I take advantage of are picking up games the day they're released (versus one or more days of shipping delay) and buying things where I really want to talk to a human so something doesn't get fucked up or where I might be able to take advantage of some wiggle-room. Buying a 3G iPhone on the 11th at an AT&T store will be me combining both of those at once ;). Most cell phone sales reps in stores that I've dealt with have been very helpful in gaming the rate plans and whatnot.

Agreed. Unless I am in a 'physical browsing' mood (which is rare), shopping in b&m stores only aggravates me these days.

The gap between B&M electronics prices and online prices is just absurd.

Yeah, but Amazon won't yet let you fondle the MacBook. You can get a nice 3D model, but 3D force feedback has a long way to go.

Seconding boffo on the absurd electronics prices, though. HDMI cable in a gaming store: $40 and up. Perfectly good HDMI cable online: about $7.

Oh good, I need HDMI cables for my PS3. Have to figure out which and how many.
